What to expect
The ACE Centre supports young people who, for whatever reason, are disengaged from mainstream education. It offers alternative curriculum education through schools, courses for home education, as well as soft play.
Their main aims are to:
- Build self esteem and confidence in young people.
- Provide a wide spectrum of learning opportunities that encompass key skills including intensive literacy and numeracy support and a wide range of cross curricular activities.
- Equip students with the attitudes and skills in order to reach their maximum potential in life, work and society.
ACE offer a variety of practical activities including woodwork and crafts, painting and drawing, sculpting and clay modelling, flower arranging, sewing, and upholstery and furniture upcycling and restoration. They can also offer basic bicycle and car maintenance and repair and road safety.
They offer basic and Functional Skills in maths and English up to Level 2 for children and adults.
ACE also offer health & safety, Food Hygiene and First Aid certificated courses up to Level 2 for children and adults.
The Soft Play area is bookable for small groups of children and supervising parents/guardians, and is held for sole use by the group using it.
All sessions need to be booked prior to learners attending the centre as a participant (book online by clicking here), but they are happy to arrange a visit to the centre where you will be greeted by a member of the ACE team. Call them on 01733 897919 or email [email protected]
They have a registration form and consent form (for children).
ACE currently work with primary and secondary schools (including special schools), nursery groups, and other organisations working with children, young people and adults with Special Education Needs (SEN).
