What to expect

Shopmobility provides day hire and long term hire of wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Wheelchairs include 'transport chairs' with small wheels, for someone else to push you, as well as self-propelled chairs.

Mobility scooters are motorised and come in various sizes, and can be taken apart to transport them in your car.

The first time you visit, you will need to complete a registration form and provide photo ID in order to register for the service. You can choose to be a day member or annual member. If you wish to hire a wheelchair or scooter for longer (overnight, a week, or a month), you need to pay for annual membership and pay a refundable deposit. Another benefit of annual membership is that you can collect/drop off a wheelchair or scooter out of staffed hours.

Some of their vehicles do have weight limits, so it is best to call ahead and book to ensure there is a suitable vehicle for you.

Shopmobility is staffed by a team of volunteers who can explain everything to you. Contact them on 01733 313 133.

They also hold a social coffee morning on Wednesdays, 11am - 1pm; drop by for a chat plus tea, coffee and snacks! Free, but donations are always welcome.

Shopmobility is open Monday - Thursdays 10am - 3pm, except Bank Holidays.

Access Shopmobility from the lifts found in the red and green carparks at the Queensgate Shopping Centre, and select Level 11.

Disabled parking is available in Queensgate's red and green car parks, and there are accessible toilets in the shopping centre on Level 5.
