What to expect
Since 1984 Rowan has offered a safe, creative, and enriching environment where the arts are used as a tool to bring people together and tackle social exclusion.
Adults with learning disabilities can attend creative workshops in arts, crafts and music. Each workshop is run for 6-10 students per session, enabling students to develop their social and communication skills, as well as boosting their wellbeing.
Students can attend each workshop for either a full-day or a half-day session per week. They may choose to specialise in one area or participate in a number of different workshops.
In addition to the creative workshops, Rowan run a forest school which enables students to be creative and connect with nature. They also arrange regular trips to theatres, museums and exhibitions for students to explore art and culture further.
If you are interested in attending Rowan as a student artist, you can visit this page on their website to find out more information and access the application form. You will be encouraged to attend a free taster day to experience daily studio activities for yourself, and see whether Rowan is a good fit for you.
