National Autistic Society – Cambridge Branch

Back to Support

The Cambridge branch of the National Autistic Society (NAS) provides support, information and signposting to autistic people of all ages and their families and carers in the Cambridgeshire area. They run a social club for autistic adults and a support group for carers.

The Cambridge Branch is run by a group of volunteers with personal or family experience of autism, with support from the National Autistic Society. They run two regular groups:

NAS Adults Social Club
This fortnightly club is for autistic people aged 18 plus. It is a chance to socialise with other autistic people who may have shared interests. Activities at the club include Nintendo games, board games, puzzles and crafts. There is also space where you can relax with a cup of tea. There is no upper age limit for this group, all adults are welcome. You are welcome to bring a carer with you if you would like.

The club meets on the second and fourth Sundays of most months at Chesterton Methodist Church on Green End Road in Cambridge. Visit the website for more information and upcoming dates. There is car and bike parking available at the church and it is on the Citi 2 bus route. The building is fully wheelchair accessible.

NAS Carers Support Group
This monthly group is for parents and carers of those with autism. Anyone caring for a child or adult with autism is very welcome to attend. It provides an opportunity to meet other carers for a chat and a cuppa, share experiences, swap ideas, and find out about support and activities in the local area.

The group runs on the first Tuesday of each month (except August) at the Orchard Park Community Centre in Cambridge. Visit the website for more information and upcoming dates. There is parking at the centre and it is on the Guided Busway Route A.

More information

There is no need to book onto the Social Club or Carers Support Group – you can just go along. If you would like to speak to someone beforehand you can email [email protected] or call 07920 150 407. You do not need to live in Cambridge to attend the groups, many attendees come from much further afield.

The website of the Cambridge Branch of the National Autistic Society has useful information about diagnosis and support, and links to other local organisations.

There is also a private Cambridge NAS group on Facebook which aims to provide a space for the local autism community to meet others, share experiences and exchange support and information.
