What to expect
Light Project Peterborough (LPP) is a charity providing support to those who are in desperate need within Peterborough. The vision of LPP is ‘Enabling and equipping the church and community to heal the broken hearted, set free the oppressed and bring good news to the poor.’ Although they are a charity based on Christian values, they do not promote religion. They welcome all and show care and love to those who need their help.

Light Project Peterborough delivers a number of projects across Peterborough. Click on the title of each to go to their webpages to find out more:
The Garden House - LPP's biggest project, which opened in October 2018 and is Peterborough’s Homeless Hub. It is instrumental in both delivering and enabling others to respond to the needs of the homeless in Peterborough. It’s a multi-agency setting where people receive not only food, drink and clothing, but also access to a range of services. These include:
- Accommodation support
- Medical consultations
- Physical and mental healthcare
- Drugs and alcohol support
- Training and employment support
- A hot shower and laundry service
Homeless Health Hub - LPP works with multiple agencies to deliver much-needed health services to the homeless. A major part of this is a Health Outreach Bus which acts as a doctor's consultation room, allowing various tests, vaccinations, and treatments.
Peer Advocacy - this is a training programme for people with lived experience of homelessness to harness their own knowledge and understanding, whilst developing new skills and experience to support others in their journey out of homelessness.
Accommodation Support - LPP works with Peterborough City Council and other partners to support people to move into temporary accommodation and progress to permanent. They also have some temporary night shelter cabins.
Street Chaplains - amazing volunteers engage with people in and around the city centre who want to talk for any reason, such as loneliness, sadness, grief, worries, and more. Street Chaplains work with various other services such as emergency services to help people feel safe as well.
Across Peterborough - this is a communication tool with a website, social media, magazine and newsletter. It is managed by Light Project Peterborough whose aim is to enable and equip the church and community to heal the broken hearted, set free the oppressed and bring good news to the poor.
