What to expect
JobSmart supports anyone age 19+ to upskill in a range of areas including maths, English/ESOL, ICT, employability, and various vocational qualifications to help re-enter employment or progress within the workplace. They also have Time To Shine, a weekly supportive session in which people can take part in quizzes and games, do crafts, watch films and more; the focus is on social skills and making new connections.
Their courses range from absolute beginners to refreshing existing skills, and the duration of each course is on their website.
As well as face-to-face delivery in daytime and evening courses, they are also able to offer flexible learning options for many of their courses, including online 'distance learning' at your own pace.
To view the eligibility criteria to take a course, please see individual course guidelines.
Many of the courses are fully funded for those who are eligible. Eligibility is usually having lived in the UK for 6 months (less if a refugee), and some have income caps; please enquire if you are unsure.
Pitstop Employability
This course is for unemployed people to help plan their journey back to employment. Book a session with JobSmart staff to help with CV creation or amendments, and advice on interview preparation, as needed. This is a free service those who are currently unemployed. Please enquire via the form at the bottom of the JobSmart webpage.
Skills Bootcamps
Bootcamps are Distance Learning aimed to enable people to enter the workplace following specific training in a specific industry area (currently 'Get into Logistics' and 'Get into Security') and they will support you to gain an interview following this course with a relevant local employer.
