Falls Management Exercise Programme (FaME)

The small group exercise classes are specifically designed to improve your physical fitness, helping to keep you strong, steadier on your feet and doing the things you enjoy for longer. Everyone’s health is different, so the instructors will get to know you and tailor the exercises as necessary. The classes are also a great way to meet other people, receive support and build motivation.

The FaME programme covers a period of 24 weeks (6 months). Vivacity deliver this programme in Peterborough.

What to expect

Prior to attending, you will be invited to a 1-2-1 session with the instructor to carry out some functional and mobility tests and to assess your suitability for the programme.

Classes will have a maximum of 15 people.

Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes, it doesn’t need to be sports clothing. You will use some equipment, such as resistance bands or weights, which are provided. Some exercises will be seated, progressing to more standing exercise.

The instructor will work with you through the stages of confidently getting up from the floor.

Some people stay for a social chat at the end, but this is not compulsory.

After the first couple of sessions you will also be given exercises to do at home to help you feel the benefits more quickly.
