Dahlia specialises in supporting South Asian females in Peterborough & Fenland who have experienced domestic abuse in a past or current relationship. This support can be in many ways such as emotional, practical, or signposting to other agencies where required.

What to Expect: 

South Asian Community Specialist workers can assure that you will receive specialist advice and support which has your safety in mind. Their workers have both language and cultural knowledge of women from South Asian communities.

Support on offer includes:

  • emotional support around domestic abuse, either past or current
  • support to leave an abusive partner
  • safety planning
  • advocate when speaking to other professionals such as social service or GP
  • free counselling sessions for up to 12 weeks

This specialist service is provided by Peterborough Women’s Aid, a local charity with years of experience of supporting women who are victims of domestic abuse.

The Dahlia project has multilingual staff who speak languages such as Urdu, Punjabi, Mirpuri, Pahari and Patwari.
