Back to Support

Church of the Holy Spirit is Bretton's Parish Church in Peterborough. They are welcoming and very community-focused, with activities and support for the benefit of everyone in Bretton, including a coffee morning, activities for adults and children, as well as worship services.

What to expect

The Church’s mission includes serving Christ in the community by reaching out to Bretton and the wider community in witness, service and caring for God’s creation. Some of their regular activities include:

  • Hosting the Peterborough Food Bank: you will need a Food Bank voucher, see the Food Bank's website to find out more information including how to get a voucher here.
  • Thursday Coffee Morning (and Warm Space in winter): free refreshments and chat with volunteers, who offer a listening ear.
  • Singing Group: a community sing-a-long of popular songs is held weekly on Wednesday evenings 7-8pm.
  • Family Film Afternoons: free family film screenings every other month at 3.30pm on Saturdays. There are free refreshments including popcorn.
  • Eco Mission Team: working towards an Eco Church Bronze award with A Rocha and actively encouraging each other to have a positive impact on the environment.
  • and other social events such as quizzes, talent nights, pop up art galleries, children's theatre, and more!

Keep up-to-date with upcoming activities on their Facebook page or contact their online contact form on their website. If you have any queries about the Food Bank, please contact the Food Bank direct - phone 01733 575083 or email [email protected]

More information

You can find out about the church's worship services on this page of their website. Their main Sunday service of Holy Communion is at 10.30am, and on the last Sunday of each month there is a half hour evening service called Hush, which is quieter, and people arrive and leave in silence; more is on that page as well.

Free parking is available at the Bretton Shopping Centre car park. Bus services also stop there.

Weekday entrance to the church can be through the Cresset Centre. However, the Cresset Centre outer doors may be locked on Sundays, so the entrance to the Church on these days is on the Rightwell East road - this is the main photo for this webpage. There is a ramp from the street to the entrance.

There are gender-neutral toilets in the church, including accessible ones with baby changing.

The church service area has Hearing Loop for people who would like to use this.

There are no fixed pews, instead there are chairs which can be moved to accommodate wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs.

Activities are free, but donations are gratefully received and help the church continue their support for as many people as possible.
