What to expect
The Butterfly Volunteer Service is for people registered with Boroughbury Medical Centre / Paston Primary Care Network, which includes the following GP practices in Peterborough: Boroughbury Medical Centre, Werrington Surgery, Paston Health Centre, and Werrington Health Centre.
Support is offered in person in your home by volunteers. Volunteers can provide:

emotional support
-
access to information to other community services
-
companionship to reduce loneliness
-
opportunities for you and your support network to discuss your wishes
Volunteers connect and engage people by offering:

1 – 2 hours a week visits, the duration of the support will depend on your needs and wishes

talking and listening, providing companionship
-
reading, singing gently or sitting quietly, providing company
-
a consistent relationship throughout your journey
-
small amounts of respite to your family or carers, staying with you while they take a break
Note that volunteers cannot provide personal care.

About this service
The Butterfly Volunteer Service is a three year pilot scheme provided by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), click here to find out more. It is being delivered by the CPFT Voluntary Service – click here to read more about the service.
About the volunteers
The volunteers undergo mandatory training and enhanced end of life care training which has been developed by CPFT Voluntary Services in collaboration with the Anne Robson Trust.
Volunteers receive supervision (both in a peer group and 1:1 capacity) and adhere to the policies and procedures of CPFT.
