WestRaven Community Garden provides a safe and accessible space to deliver a range of activities for all ages to support health and wellbeing, social inclusion, and employability. Volunteers are very welcome!
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- the garden has a welcoming atmosphere, you will be in a peaceful and beautiful 1.5 acre site with orchard, pond, wildlife habitats and allotment, which can calm the mind and reduces stress;
- it is community-focused and offers you a space to socialise and be part of group, working together;
- you can learn new skills and try new things, which can inspire and motivate you, giving you a sense of optimism and purpose.
“I am so glad I decided to try these sessions out, I wasn’t sure at first but everyone was so welcoming and relaxed, and the garden so peaceful I was able to just be myself with no pressure, just what I needed!”

Or you can volunteer, there are many different things you can do and at different levels of time commitment: garden maintenance, building or repairing things like planters, helping at an activity/event, driving, making tea and coffee, greeting visitors…
Come along and see the space, try it out, and if you want to volunteer they can sign you up. Or you can find out more on their website.
