Soundabout Inclusive Choir

Back to Activities

The Soundabout Inclusive Choir for Peterborough youth is a welcoming musical community for children and young people of all abilities who enjoy singing/signing and/or playing musical instruments or using assisted technology. They also welcome volunteers.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it’s a lot of fun and gives you a creative outlet to channel any worries or anxiety
  • it helps you to connect with others and make new friends who also love music
  • it helps you to develop self-confidence as well as musical skills in a safe and non-judgemental space

‘Finding your group has been truly amazing as W is finally able to be himself and have fun doing the things he enjoys most: breathing and participating in music, whether he’s having a “good” or a “less good” day. What makes your group special is that everyone is equal and their contribution is celebrated wholeheartedly. And what’s even more amazing is that everyone is so talented in their own individual way.

See what Soundabout choirs are all about:

The Inclusive Choir is run by Peterborough Music Hub and the charity Soundabout who specialise in using music to ensure that people with severe and profound learning disabilities have a voice and can be heard.

Free activities:

Alternate Saturdays: Make music however you like – sing, vocalise, play instruments, sign, dance.

This involves a wide variety of music genres.

Sessions are often on Zoom and occasionally in person. Check their website for more information.

There are a variety of volunteering opportunities, from helping out with activities (whether your are musically-inclined or not), to admin and more. Contact them to see what is available.

The choir is free to attend, but donations to the charity Soundabout are welcome.
