Peterborough Together Project

Back to Activities

The Peterborough Together Project is a community-led network that brings people together through creativity, nature, and connection. They host free, inclusive wellbeing activities including Wild Art, Community Clickers and the Peterborough Embroidery Society, with more coming.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • Creative and mindful spaces can help people can relax, reduce stress, and express themselves safely
  • You can meet others through shared interests such as art, photography and craft
  • Being part of a creative community with people of different ages, abilities and backgrounds can build confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging

"Really good art group ran by Dee, she is really patient and has a different interesting art subject every time. The kids love it and adults too. Will definitely be attending again." - Frank

"Had a truly wonderful time at the community event hosted at Green Backyard in Peterborough! A big shout out to Dee for her amazing support and creativity—she really helped ignite the kids’ interest in working with clay. They absolutely loved it and had so much fun exploring their artistic side. Thanks to everyone who made it such a memorable day!" - Sunilsinh

What to expect

Peterborough Together Project is for children, young people, adults and older people who want to connect with others through creative and wellbeing activities.

Activities include facilitated creative wellbeing sessions (such as Wild Art), and self-led social groups like photography and embroidery. Sessions are relaxed, inclusive and suitable for complete beginners – no experience or special skills are needed.

At the first session, attendees are welcomed by the facilitator or group lead, who explains what will happen and helps people settle in. The same lead usually attends regularly, and people are welcome to make contact in advance if they feel nervous.

Attendees include people of different ages, abilities and backgrounds. Some attend independently, others with carers, parents or support workers.

Some sessions require booking in advance, while others are drop-in. Sessions usually last between 1 and 2 hours. Attendees are free to leave at any time.

Most activities do not require any specialist equipment. For creative sessions, materials are usually provided. Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing suitable for the activity and weather. Outdoor sessions may be adapted or rescheduled in poor weather. Pushchairs are welcome. Dogs are welcome at outdoor venues where permitted.

More information

Peterborough Together Project aims to reduce barriers to participation and welcomes people who may feel anxious, isolated or unsure about joining community activities. They value kindness, inclusion and respect, and encourage people to attend at their own pace.

Activities take place in community venues and outdoor spaces across Peterborough. Venue details are shared in advance via Facebook - either their PTP page for more collaborative projects, or their Wild Art one. Locations are chosen to be as accessible as possible. Where relevant, information about toilets, accessibility, parking and public transport is shared ahead of time.

Formal carers, informal carers, parents and support people are welcome to attend alongside participants. They may take part in activities or observe, depending on preference and the nature of the session.

All Peterborough Together Project activities are free to attend. Some sessions welcome optional donations to help cover materials and support the continuation of activities, but donations are never required to take part. The project aims to remain free and accessible to all.
