Peterborough Litter Wombles is a friendly group for everyone who wants to clean up Peterborough. They aim to help groups across the city to make a real difference to their local areas through picking up litter.

Picking litter either solo or in a group is beneficial to both physical and mental health.

Peterborough Litter Wombles (PLW) is an award-winning group of community volunteers, working with Peterborough City Council and other volunteer groups to clean up Peterborough and keep it free from litter. They also are keen on litter prevention, and work with the council to promote, amongst other things, better enforcement, engagement with communities, education and placement of bins.
What to expect
PLW run friendly group litter picks most weekends throughout the year. These are a great way to try out litter picking, meet like-minded people and get some exercise!
They provide all of the equipment needed but please dress in case you get dirty. Sturdy shoes and good gardening gloves are also recommended. Organised groups last from 1 hr to 2 hrs. They also have a FAQs page with more info.
There’s no need to sign up in advance, just check out their Events page on their website or their Facebook page to see where upcoming events are planned, and meet them at the start point.
Regular locations include The Boathouse, Potters Way, Fletton Lakes, Hampton Vale, Orton (Herlington), Werrington, Walton and Paston, but they hold events throughout the city.
PLW also organise Corporate Litter picks on weekdays, so do get in touch if people from your company are keen to do some litter picking around the city!
Participating in this group is free of charge. Litter pickers and bags are provided for group litter picks and can be provided on request for solo or family litter picks. Join the Facebook group or see their website for more information and how to contact them with queries.
