Peterborough and District Bowls League consists of a group of bowls clubs in and around the Peterborough area. Many of the Clubs have opportunities for anyone to undertake outdoor bowls at both social and competitive levels.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • bowling provides good, gentle exercise for all ages,
  • bowling provides a way of meeting others in a social environment and making new friendships,
  • bowling can boost both mental and physical wellbeing.

What to expect

Lawn bowls is an easy-to-learn sport for all the family, and can be played by all ages. It’s good healthy exercise, played out in the fresh air.

The Peterborough and District League has over 20 clubs in the area. Some of these are focussed on competition, while others are more social and open to people joining in to see if they like it! You can find a club that welcomes anyone to have a go, along with the days and times they play, on their Try Bowls page, and find locations of all the clubs on this page (some are shown on the map on this page but there are quite a few more!).

All equipment is supplied, just wear flat shoes.

Because these bowls venues are all outdoor, they only operate during milder weather, generally early May through late August/early September. Usually no booking is necessary, but you may wish to contact the Bowls Club you are interested in for more details.

Most clubs have adjacent parking and all have toilet facilities.

With most clubs the first time is usually free.

Most clubs will charge a very small for each attendance.
