Paston Farm Knitters

Back to Activities

Join the Paston Farm Knitters, a friendly group with an interest in wool - knitting, crochet, and more - with a range of knowledge and skills to share while having a chat, and food/drink from the cafe if you wish.

This activity is good for wellbeing because

  • it’s social, with chat and banter
  • you can learn new skills, improve the ones you have, and share your skills with others
  • it’s mentally stimulating

“It’s something really nice to do, a morning of conversation and wool.”

What to expect

This friendly group welcomes all with an interest in knitting or crochet, whether you’re a complete beginner or an expert, and everything in between. Someone can show you how to get started, or what to do if you get stuck if you need. If you have skills to share, they welcome this as well. You don’t even have to knit or crochet, but can just sit at the table and take part in the chat and laughs!

They like to work on projects to supply various charities, such as baby blankets for the Sands Charity, have made hats for winter donation, hearts for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, and blankets for the John Van Geest Unit in Stamford Hospital.

They have needles, patterns, and yarn.

The group meets fortnightly on Mondays from 10am – 1pm at the Paston Farm Community Centre’s craft room. They don’t have an online presence; to find out the dates they meet, ring or email the community centre and leave your name and contact details, asking for someone from the knitting group to contact you.

More information

The Paston Farm Community Centre has a cafe with low cost hot and cold drinks and food to purchase if you wish, and you can enjoy these in the craft room.

The community centre is behind the Fane Clinic, and there’s a gravel car park to the left of the Fane Clinic (don’t park in front of the Clinic, they can issue fines); the entrance to the car park is just past the Clinic, and the car park is shared with a boxing club. See the photos and video below.

There are two small steps up into the craft room. There are accessible toilets on site.

There is no cost to attend, though donations for wool, patterns and needles are welcome.

You can purchase food and drinks from the cafe.

See how to get from the car park to the craft room where the knitters meet:
