Men's Sheds are shared workshops where you can enjoy fixing and making things in the company of others. Some come just for the tea and banter, and people of any skill/experience over the age of 18 are welcome. Richard runs the one at the Green Backyard.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- meeting people with similar interests can lead to new friendships;
- learning new skills is useful & stimulating;
- getting out of the house and doing something different gives you a sense of achievement.
What to expect?
Men’s Sheds are places to pursue practical interests, to learn and practice skills, and enjoy making and mending, with a difference: they’re about social connections too.
At the Green Backyard, they always have a cuppa (and biscuits) as well! In fact, you don’t need to do any actual ‘work’, you can just enjoy a hot drink and company, or even go for a wander around the lovely setting in the Green Backyard. You can get involved in helping around the garden too if you wish. There’s always something to do.
The Shed is for anyone age 18+ (including women). You can have lots of practical experience or none. You can just pop in, no need to book!
The Men’s Shed runs:
- Thursdays 10am – 1pm
- Fridays 10am – 1pm
Richard arrives early to open the container and put the kettle on.
