What to expect
Go-ViP is a free website where you can find opportunities to support your local community. It acts like a digital noticeboard, where groups post requests for support. There are opportunities to help with lots of different causes, each requiring different time-commitments, so you can find something which fits with your availability, skills and interests.
For individuals – how to find volunteering opportunities
Your first time using the website you will need to register and complete a profile about yourself. You can then browse through the different opportunities on offer and apply for those you are interested in. There is a quiz you can take, which will guide you to suitable opportunities by asking about the causes you care about and the activities you would like to get involved in.
Alternatively you can fill in your profile with details of the type of voluntary role you are looking for, and then join the ‘volunteer pool’. This means you will be contacted directly by community organisations about relevant activities based on your profile.
Click on the ‘For Volunteers’ button on the main page to find out more and create a profile.
For groups and organisations – how to promote volunteering opportunities
If you are a group or organisation you can use the Go-ViP platform to promote the work that you do, and request support from volunteers in the form of ongoing roles or one-off help.
The first step is to create a profile. You then need to ‘register your organisation’ which involves make a page giving information about what you do, including photos and links to your website so people can find out more. The last step is to ‘publish opportunities’ – add a listing giving details of a specific volunteering opportunity that people can get involved in. You can also use the volunteer pool to search for volunteers whose interests and availability fit with the opportunity you are advertising.
Find out more on the For Organisations page. If you need any help you can email the team at [email protected].
