Friendship & Games Club is a weekly group for adults to chat and play games. From card games to board games to Boccia - they play them all. Everyone's welcome to join in, share a game idea, have a chat and enjoy some company.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- it helps build social connections and reduce loneliness. Spending time with others, chatting, and sharing fun activities helps people feel more connected
- it boosts mood through play and laughter. Games are a great way to unwind, have fun, and focus on something positive
- it supports confidence and a sense of belonging. Taking part in group activities can help people feel valued, build confidence, and develop new friendships
"It was such a lovely atmosphere, everyone made me feel so welcome, so I couldn't wait to go back. Now I've played more games than I thought existed!"
"I like to come because it's fun, friendly, supportive and stimulating!"

What to expect?
The Friendship & Games Club is open to anyone who wants to meet new people, enjoy light‑hearted games, and spend time in a relaxed, social setting. All adults and abilities are welcome - no experience necessary, the club is beginner-friendly, other attendees are happy to help, and you can take it at your own pace.
The club offers a friendly mix of board games, card games, puzzles, and conversation. You can join in with group games or choose something quieter if you prefer. The focus is on fun, connection, and enjoying each other’s company, not on winning.
Sessions are led by a member of Cross Keys Homes (CKH) staff, but are open to everyone, not just CKH residents. Staff from CKH or a Lead Volunteer will greet you, help you settle in, explain how the session works, and introduce you to other attendees (only if you want). They guide the activity, answer questions, and help you settle in. If you feel nervous about attending for the first time, you can contact them beforehand for reassurance or information.
The groups decide on the games they play, so you can play straight away, or take some time to look around and get comfortable. If you feel nervous about attending for the first time, you can contact staff beforehand for reassurance or information.
This is a drop-in club, so there's no need to book, just turn up. Session last for 3 hours, but you can turn up when you can and stay for as long as you can.
Each participant is welcome to a free hot drink, and very welcome to stay and pay for lunch in the cafe after.
